My name is Frank Aakvik. I'm a Visual Artist who draws inspiration in retro-futurism and the romanticising of the Industrial Revolution to create functional and decorative art that with a sense of humour and a touch of ridicule, reflects an alternative reality.

I find encouragement in engineering artists such as Arthur Ganson and Theo Jansen. Traditional tooling techniques are employed in combination with modern, industrialised processes to create objects that produce a clean mechanical finish that still show evidence of handcraft.

I specialise in interactive installations, combining customised software and mechanical sculptures. My work emphasises function in correlation with décor and often incorporates energy efficient technology to highlight details or hidden information.

As a Creative Consultant I work with Children's institutions to fascilitate for better creative environments.
